Hawaii hotel occupancy up in August

The Hawaii hotel occupancy was up 6.3% to 75.7% over August last year for the entire state.  Also the average daily room rate climbed 1.8% to $181.49.  Oahu hotel occupancy once again lead the state at 83.7% and Maui had the highest room rate $238.07.  August completes a busy and improving picture for tourism in Hawaii.  Although there is much optimism about the recovery in the tourism industry, most are still taking a wait and see attitude because the fall is typically Hawaii’s slow season.
