Forecast calls for improvement for Oahu hotels in 2010

PKF Hospitality Research out of Atlanta calls for a 7% increase in available rooms for hotels on Oahu in 2010.  This would be the first annual increase in RevPAR (Revenue per available room) since 2006.  They are also calling for an increased occupancy rate of 2.7%.  Furthermore the research groups calls for continued improvement for 2011.

“While market conditions are expected to remain very competitive, the
encouraging news for hoteliers is that the near and mid-term outlooks
are becoming more predictable,” said R. Mark Woodworth, president of PKF
Hospitality Research. “With a clearer picture of the future, hotel
managers will be able to implement pricing policies, purchasing
practices and staffing decisions that will maximize revenues and control
costs.”
