Helping the Honu (Green sea turtles)

Hawaii is rich with life.  Per square foot we have the most endangered species of anywhere so it is wonderful to know more about those who live among us.  The Honu or Hawaii green sea turtle is one such example.  There are some places where I visit and I can always sea a turtle there, every time I go.  But they do not mature until aged 25, which seems like a long time and then only breed every couple of years so restoring the once plentiful population takes time.  Since they were put on the endangered species list in the early 1970’s the population has blossomed, but not to the point that scientists feel that they would be able to sustain their population.  Save the Sea Turtle International is an organization helping to educate and take care of the population here.  Learn more and enjoy wonderful pictures in the process….
