Hawaii leads the nation with the most millionaires

For the second year in a row, Hawaii leads the nation as the state with the most millionaires per capita.  According to Phoenix Marketing International of New York.  Company has also reported that the number of millionaires has declined by 14 percent over the past two years.  Still Hawaii has 6.4% of its households, or 28,363, are considered to be millionaires.  Millionaires are defined as households with $1 million or most investable or liquid assets which excludes sponsored retirement plans and real estate.

David Thompson, managing director of the Phoenix Affluent Market said, “While the top states in millionaire percentages were little changed from the previous year, overall, the market downturn has taken its toll on the ranks of millionaires in most states.”
