Number of home sales on the Big Island up 40%

The number of single-family homes sold on the Big Island is up 40% since last year and the number of condominiums sold has nearly doubled.  Hawaii Information Service which tracks the multiple listing service data there also announced that the median sales price for single-family homes has declined from $320,000 in March 2009 to $305,000 in March 2010.  The increased number of sales may signify that we may be close to a bottom in price declines and that the increased demand may soon cause prices to rise.
