The Housing Market Jumps in February 2016. The Oahu real estate statistics for the month of February 2016 are released today. According to the analysis by the Honolulu real estate board, using data collected from its computerized Multiple Listing Service (MLS) system, the Oahu Hawaii island housing statistics are:

February 2016 brings again housing price increases for Oahu

During February, the median price paid for single-family homes increased by 8% year over year to $700,000. The median price for condominiums increased by 16.1% percent from last year to  $378,444. Sales of single-family homes increased by 19.4 percent, while condominium sales increased by 11.7 percent from February 2015. According to the Days on Market indicator, single-family homes were on the market for 23 days while condominiums were on the market for 23 days.

“February continued the trend of strong single-family and condominium sales,” said Kalama Kim, 2016 president of the Honolulu Board of Realtors. “The fact that we had double-digit sales growth in both categories shows that demand remains strong for housing of all types and price points. One encouraging aspect is the uptick in new listings for single-family homes and condos compared to February 2015, with a jump from 382 to 414 (8.4 percent) for single-family homes and 594 to 605 (1.9 percent) for condos. The Central plain, Metro Honolulu, and Hawaii Kai areas saw strong growth in single-family home sales, while condos sold best in the Ewa plain, Metro Honolulu, and Pearl City.”
