One of the most desirable areas to live on Oahu is on the east side from Diamond Head to Hawaii Kai all along that area because of the climate. It’s sunny and usually a bit dryer and it’s fairly easy to drive into Honolulu. One of the things that people do look for in buying in Hawaii is to be on the beach and to enjoy that oceanfront lifestyle. Being able to get into the water from your home and from your own backyard to paddle surf, swim to snorkel, or to fish it’s why people dream about living in Hawaii. Along the eastern side, there are plenty of sections that are rocky. There are plenty of sections that are closed off to homes with a hotel or golf courses. This home is located in the neighborhood of Portlock in Hawaii Kai. This is one of the farthest neighborhoods from downtown Honolulu and this 3 bedroom, 3 bath home with 2390 ft.² interior sits right on the beach at Maunalua Bay in Hawaii Kai. This section is good for swimming but the bay is best designed for surfing and boating and even jet skiing is popular here. With its 10,000 ft.² square feet of land and the fact that it’s a little bit of an older home the asking price is just slightly under $3 million. This is actually pretty low for a beachfront property anywhere on the island. The home has wonderful outdoor spaces underneath trees that you can view the ocean, relax, barbecue, have parties: It’s a really wonderful place to call home. It’s quite sizable. Built in 1999 it solidly constructed and designed as a luxury Villa on the beach. Right on Niu beach. The asking price is $6,395,000. This is a nice sandy beach good for surfing, snorkeling, stand-up paddling and swimming. It’s interesting to note that the coastline off of this section of East Oahu is not heavily used. Frequently if you go out to the surf breaks you may find yourself alone or with a small group of people. It’s certainly nothing like what you would see in Waikiki where you have a long lineup and you have to wait your turn. Here you can get out and catch waves without the competition. This is still closer to town than the previous 2, but regardless of its location, it is quite an estate to behold. I say “estate” because the property is almost one and a half acres, which is huge considering Hawaii’s dense housing. Having this large home is truly prestigious as well as having it right on the beach. Located at the base of Hawaii Loa ridge, it is two doors down from a small beach park popular mainly with windsurfers and kite surfers who the break “Toes”. In front of this house, there are not many beachgoers at all. The home has a total of 8 bedrooms, 8 1/2 bathrooms with a living area of 11,940 ft.². This is much larger than most high-end properties in Hawaii.

High ceilings, flat roof creates a remarkable property and the asking price is $20 million Definitely it is one of our higher priced properties but for this is an iconic property.

Beachfront rarity on Oahu, Hawaii

All of these properties have something absolutely unique about them. Of course, they are completely different price points. It is a rare occurrence to see beachfront property on the market on the east side outside of Kahala and Diamond Head. Kahala is beautiful, Diamond Head is beautiful. Those certainly command the highest price per square foot and there are other quieter areas like in Portlock and Niu beach that have beach frontage and wonderful homes. As you twist around Diamond Head to the South Shore most of that coastline is covered with either buildings or Waikiki hotels and harbors. So it’s not any place to find a home.
