Beach living on Dune Circle , Kailua (Oahu)

Much has changed since i grew up in Kailua, but not the spectacular beach we all love. Dune circle is a beautiful street and as the years go by it stands out as one of the more popular Beachside streets on which to live.  More than just a single lane running from Kalaheo Avenue to the Beach, Dune Circle as developed into a tight community.  There is a private beach access point for those that live off of the beach. This is also a great section of the beach and as the seasons change and the beach widens and narrows, year after year, Dune Circle retains a fair amount of its beach width.  The surf is fairly gentle in front of this lane.

Two of the Kailua homes that are for sale on the beach have a long history on the beach.  Both 350 and 376 Dune Circle were built in the 1950’s when brick building was prevalent along Beachside.  As the years go by, it is becoming harder and harder to find these treasures.  Brick is an obvious choice for the Hawaii climate.  It does a better job keeping the house cool and termites are less of a worry.

Kailua real estate – two beachfront homes for sale

376 Dune Circle – This home is priced at $6.9mil has since been extensively remodeled in 2011 and the interior design work has been completed by popular local designer Jamie Jackson. With her gift of effortless and casual elegance, this home was transformed into a real showplace.  The high peaked ceiling brings in much natural light and the travertine tile floors make this an easy-care Kailua beach house. The combination of the rich woods, stone, and the azure ocean is the beach life look that so many love.

350 Dune Circle – This house is priced much lower at $5.238 million. It is a smaller home and retains much of the same layout and feel of the 1950’s beach house.  It is more casual and feels more like a vacation home.  Yes, it is more simple but still very elegant with its new travertine and bamboo flooring.  The light colors make for a cool comfortable beach house. This wonderful piece of Real Estate also has a famous history. This was the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hargreaves. They were prolific authors of books on Hawaii’s trees and plants at a time when not much was being written about them. Their books were on flowers and trees in Hawaii, the Pacific, and the Caribbean. Their treasured books can still be found at the Kailua Library.
