Waikiki is actually a fun place to live and the Lanikea condo is a good choice.  I lived in this tourist mecca for a few years at one time and loved it.  It is fun to be able to walk to so much shopping and restaurants and the beach!  Plus there are so many parades and cultural events happening in this area.  This is just never a dull moment.  The Honolulu Festival just took place last Sunday evening.  It was a fantastic cultural parade that ended in one of the nicest fire works shows that I have ever seen on Waikiki.  The part I loved about living here is that you felt like you were on a holiday every day.  Surrounded by all of these visitors from all over the world is exciting and makes you appreciate how lucky we all are to be able to live here.

One of the things that is interesting about Waikiki is that most of the buildings there are quite old.  They are mostly from the 1960’s and 1970’s.  The units were built mostly small and compact. Finding something newer and big enough to comfortably live in and have the bonus of an ocean view can be  a little challenging.  Of the newer buildings with ocean views in Waikiki, the Lanikea at Waikiki stands out as well-priced for you pay for.  It seems to be a bit of a “sleeper” building.  Perhaps maybe because Lanikea does not have as many amenities as some of the newer luxury buildings.  Owners are rewarded for this with lower maintenance fees.  There is no fitness room or sauna.  There is just the pool, the whirlpool and the BBQ area.  The lobby is small and akin to a boutique building. Each unit does have storage.  This building represents a good value compared to other new buildings.

Unit 2201 At Lanikea at Waikiki just came up for sale.  This 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit is a very popular floor plan. They have both an ocean and mountain views and they are on the preferred side of the building.  In fact it has been several years since an ’01 has been up for sale.  It is also on a higher floor which is preferred.  The higher floors clear most of the surrounding buildings for a lovely ocean view over Ft. DeRussey.  The unit has been meticulously maintained and can come fully furnished.  It is very well priced at $998,000 compared to recent sales in the building.
