On the corner of Queen and Kamake’e Street, Ae’o is located above Hawaii’s new flagship Whole Foods Market, in the heart of Kaka’ako. One of Honolulu’s most exciting new communities, with 135 diverse shops, boutiques and restaurants nearby. This is also Honolulu’s most walkable and bike friendly community. Updates on the Ae’o condo project
September 1, 2018. Ae’o completion nears
We are a few months away from the completion of the Ae’o condo, and new owners are inspecting their new units. The contractors have finished with all of the condo units and are completing the common areas like the amenity deck, the rooftop deck, and the parking garages.
From walking through the units, the views are better than expected. The finishing materials are just as lovely as the model is at the IBM building. One of the most beautiful features in many of the units are the Juliet windows which are a custom design for this building. The modern Juliet Windows which look like wings off of the sides of the buildings are an ingenious creation by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, the Seattle based architectural firm that designed the building. The window design allows for the maximum opening with direct ocean views and also has a safety feature to make sure the windows are tightly closed and can tilt back into the unit. The windows are designed to be heat and UV resistant and double pane. This all plays into the development being LEED certified.
After the new owners complete the inspections, the signings will take place next month. Then closing is expected to be late November or in December. The developer still has to announce the completion date. As is typical, closings will be staggered over the course of several weeks. The new owners are very pleased with what they see in the units, from the beautiful wood floors, the fine Grohe fixtures, and the beautiful Bosch appliances.
The building has been sold out for months, which is unusual and is a tribute to how popular the building is. Currently, there are a few resales that are available. These sales would be a back to back closing upon completion of the condo.
June 5, 2018. The Ae’o Rooftop
One of the most striking features of the new Ae’o condo is the rooftop Sky Terrace. As construction is getting closer to completion, this highly anticipated feature is taking shape. The distinctive roofline designed by international award-winning architectural firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson is perfect to be enjoyed day or night. It is proving to be one of the most striking features of 400-foot Ae’o tower.
For residents, this amenity allows everyone in the building to enjoy stunning views in every direction, from the ocean, to the Ko’olau mountains, and to Diamond Head. Imagine having a drink at the rooftop bar while taking in the sunset or the Friday night fireworks in Waikiki. This terrace in the sky is lovely to place to relax or entertain with friends and family.
